Temperature-dependent electron tunneling and the isothermal luminescence of molecular solids

Abstract

Isothermoluminescence of molecular solids is described by assuming that the recombination mechanism is electron tunneling and that the frequency factor in the rate of tunneling is temperature dependent. The results are in agreement with the strongly temperature dependent decay of isothermoluminescence of solid methane doped with benzene or toluene.
