Abstract

150 oriented samples collected at 16 localities from Cretaceous carbonates between Zadar and Split on the mainland as well as on the islands of Dugi Otok and Vis were studied. Nine localities yielded statistically well-defined paleomagnetic directions, which indicate that the area of the present study is a direct continuation of the Dalmatian-Herczegovinian zone between Gorica and Zadar. Thus, the possible border zone between counterclockwise rotated (Goriza - Split) and clockwise rotated (Hellenides) parts of the Dinaric - Hellenic fold belt is narrowed down to the area between Split and the Scutari-Pec line. -Authors
