Abstract

The various types of thermoplastic rubbers (TR) are filling the gap existing between thermoplastic resins and vulcanized rubber regarding their processing/properties relationship. The observed boom of the TR in comparison to the stagnant conventional rubber market can be attributed to its ease in energy-saving and short-cycling thermoplastic processing as well as to its recycling possibilities. Tauroprene is a new, fully amorphous thermoplastic polyolefinic rubber (TPO) the properties of which can be tailor-made according to the requirements of the customers. Tauroprene was designed especially for toughening of polypropylene, but it is also well suitable as carrier for masterbatches and sound-deadening sheets, extender for rubber stocks, rubbery sealants etc. Tauroprene PP is the first member of a TR family produced by dynamic vulcanization.
