Abstract

Genomics, i.e. genome-based biology, a recent synthesis of genomic databases, high-throughput nano-biotechnologies, bioinformatics and computer science provided an entirely new concept for biology, including medical sciences. The recent leading tendency based on multicentric grid-like studies designates understanding of genetic networks behind the complex disease pathways. For the revolutionary development of preventive, diagnostic and therapeutic medical research integrative genomics assigns new approaches through systems biology. These trends are well exemplified by unique hits in immunogenomics and pharmacogenomics.
