Abstract

Poly(isobutylene-g-styrene) graft copolymer was synthesized by quasiliving atom transfer radical polymerization using commercial poly(isobutylene-co-p-bromomethylstyrene-co-p-methylstyrene) macroinitiator. The product was analyzed by UV-visible and 1H-NMR spectroscopies and gel permeation chromatography. The investigations on morphology (DSC) and mechanical properties (stress-strain curve) indicate that the new poly(isobutylene-g-styrene) graft copolymers exhibit themoplastic elastomer behavior.
