Surface porosity of fullerene black adsorbents modified by the Diels-Alder reaction

Abstract

The change of surface porosity on the effect of a sequence of Diels-Alder and retro-Diels-Alder reactions of extracted fullerene black was analyzed. The analysis of the isotherms provided information on surface area, micropore surface, micropore volume and maximal pore volume. The nitrogen adsorption isotherms were determined at the temperature of liquid nitrogen. The small angle x-ray scattering (SAXS) analysis was used for studying the surface porosity of fullerene black. The density of fullerene black was measured using helium gas pycnometer. The results show that heat treatment led to an increase in the specific surface area.
