Abstract

THE INVESTIGATED ALLOYS WERE ALMGSI (0. 58 WTP MG, 0. 35 WTP SI, 0. 14 WTP FE), ALMG (0. 25 WTP MG), AND WERE ALMG (4 WTP MG). DURING HEAT TREATMENT THE MG CONCENTRATION CHANGES AND SURFACE CORROSION IS OBSERVED FOR THE AIR HEAT-TREATED ALLOY. IN VACUUM HEAT TREATMENT THE MG CONTENT OF THE SURFACE LAYER INCREASES. THE PROCESS IS CONTROLLED BY BREAKING UP OFTHE AL//2O//3 BARRIER LAYER BY MG.
