Submicroscopic organization of post-synaptic membranes

Abstract

BECAUSE of their importance in the transmission of impulses, the postsynaptic membranes have been repeatedly investigated by histochemical and electron-microscopical methods. Very little is known, however, about the internal organization of these structures. It was felt that polarization microscopy might give useful information in this respect.
