Abstract

Flaking caused by high-dose ion implantation is in some cases accompanied by wave-like structures appearing on the flaked-off spot. It is suggested that the phenomenon is caused by the elastic instability of the implanted zone. A simple model leads to the determination of wavelengths that are in reasonable agreement with available experimental data.
