Abstract

The described experimental data indicate an intimate association between She changes of electrode potentials and the oxygen tension of cultures. We have attempted to assign on the basis of potentiomctric values similar to the revalues, the ro-values. The redox potential values of the culture are due to its oxygen tension and the individual potential of the cells too. Reversible redox systems, as the ascorbic acid, inhibit in high concentrations the development of micro-organisms. The micro-organisms in turn reduce or annihilate the airproduced oxydation of ascorbic acid in the culture media.
