Stage IV recovery in deformed tungsten

Abstract

The recovery of electrical resistivity after heavy deformation has been investigated in tungsten of commercial purity. Parallel microstructural and resistometric studies have revealed that recovery stage IV of the heavily deformed tungsten can at least be partly ascribed to the anihilation of the extrinsic grain boundary dislocations (EGBDs). This recovery process precedes homogeneous grain growth and may be called grain boundary recrystallization.
