Abstract

Interconversion of the three isomeric or valence tautomeric structures of C2H4Br+ {A figure is presented} is hindered by the apparent high barrier to 1,2 hydride shift (III → II) in spite of the fact that the final (I) and initial (III) states have about the same stability.
