Spectral evolution of short pulses in KrF amplifiers

Abstract

In this paper amplification of short pulses in KrF amplifiers with special emphasis on the spectral properties is studied both experimentally and theoretically. It is pointed out that the SPM of different origin in the window material and in the active material is the primary source of the spectral broadening, which however, can greatly be influenced by proper choice of the input chirp parameter.
