Special aspects of the analysis of (-)-deprenyl metabolites using liquid chromatography

Abstract

The metabolic pathway of(-)-deprenyl has been studied using various modes of chromatography. Displacement chromatography has proved to be a useful tool for the estimation of the level of the intact derivative compound [(-)-deprenyl] and that of(-)-methamphetamine. Some parameters of the displacement TLC were also characterised. 2,4-Dinitrophenylhy-drazone of formaldehyde (formaldehyde-DNPH) was analysed with HPLC using cyanopropyl-silica stationary phase and ultraviolet detection at 330 nm. The recovery during the clean-up of formaldehyde-DNPH was calculated.
