The atmospheric sulfur cycle is shown, based on recent data. The fraction of sulfate particles formed by anthropogenic gaseous constituents is estimated, based on the breakdown under discussion. The results of a simple calculation show that on a global scale, approximately half the tropospheric sulfate particles formed by gaseous constituents result from anthropogenic sources.
