Some (n, p) reactions cross sections for 14.7 MeV Neutrons

Abstract

Total (n, p) reaction cross sections have been determined for 11 nuclei between A = 14 and 190 at a neutron energy of 14.7 MeV. A suggested minimum in the cross section for nuclei with a closed proton shell at Z = 20 has not been confirmed in our measurements. The results obtained for the different Ca and Os isotopes, support the empirical relation for the dependence of σn,p on the mass number at fixed Z.
