Abstract

On the basis of our experiments a cons iderable difference can he demonstrated between the redox potential values, respiration and catalase activity of a S. aureus Butleyi (sensitive) and that of an antibiotic resistant S. aureus strain isolated from clinical material. The results s11ggest that the ratio of r espiratory enzymes in the resistant strain is changed, the catalase activity is strongly increased. From the redox and respiratory curves we can infer the increased respiration of the resistant strain.
