Soft computing methodologies and their fusion in mechatronic products

Abstract

The integration of soft computing methodologies in mechatronic products is increasingly becoming widespread. This effort is generally aimed at improvement of the performance or the easing of the design of a fuzzy system by the use of neural networks or genetic algorithms. A fusion of all three constituents is not very common. It is noted that in any application, integration should not be understood just as an amalgamation, but a synergistic combination should be sought. A few fusion techniques are discussed.
