Abstract

This paper presents a grid-based simulation of a novel e-marketplace model integrated with logistics. The EMMIL model brings together three entity types - seller, buyer and third party logistics service provider - within the same transaction thus enabling combined total cost optimisation for purchase and delivery. The resource allocation in the three-sided auction algorithm is computationally intensive therefore a parallel solution method is needed to make the real time application feasible. The first implementation of the model was carried out for simulation and testing purposes in the SEE-GRID grid infrastructure using the parameter study feature of the P-Grade grid portal. This paper reports about the initial results and shows the simplicity offered by the P-GRADE portal to solve a complex real-life business problem.
