Simulation of HCI movement in magnetic traps of ECR ion sources

Abstract

The present status of the Frankfurt and Debrecen ECRIS programs is briefly summarized. Theoretical and experimental studies were performed to investigate the real structure of the magnetic field near the ends of the magnetic trap. These so-called "edge-effects" can significantly change the behaviour of CHI at extraction. The one-particle simulation and graphical visualisation of motion of electrons and ions in the ECRIS trap is shown. Ion-ion scatterings are included.
