Abstract

Worldwide research efforts in the FCC units probably reflect the greatest chemical engineering activity ever applied to a petroleum refining process. Modelling and optimization of a FCC process requires sophisticated analysis because the process is rather complex. After identifying the independent operating variables the mathematical modelling of the reactor unit is presented. A simplified model using a modified Wollaston equation is suggested for calculating the conversion.
