Serum protein and glycoprotein changes in chronic paraquat intoxication

Abstract

1. 1. When paraquat is administered orally to rabbits for 12 weeks, in addition to the characteristic pulmonary changes slow changes also occur in the blood plasma protein fractions. 2. 2. The beta- and gamma-globulins are increased, while there is a specific and significant increase in the alpha fraction of the glycoproteins. 3. 3. These problems are discussed in detail, and the importance of the changes is assessed.
