Abstract

Pervaporation of binary components mixtures of benzene-methanol and benzene-cyclohexane was investigated by using polyethylene and differently orientated and non-orientated polypropylene membranes. The permeability coefficient was calculated from the experimental results by means of a phenomenological equation. The value of this coefficient depends very strongly on the composition of the feed but it remains practically unchanged by temperature and by pressure on the down-stream side of the membrane.
