Separation and identification of carotenoids from different coloured paprika (Capsicum annuum) by reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography

Abstract

Reversed-phase high-performance liquid chromatography was used for the separation and determination of the carotenoid pigments of different coloured paprika (Capsicum annum). Using a terner gradient elution, 25-29 peaks can be separated and identified. It was demonstrated that the combination of chemical test and diode array detection is an effective method for the identification both of known and unknown components.
