The method described can accelerate the selection of an extractant. The phase equilibria and the molecular structure of the extractant of expected high selectivity and capacity were determined by the UNIFAC group-contribution method. In case of possible extractants selected on the basis of estimated equilibrium data, energy and economy calculations have justified the choice of the rectification combined with extraction, providing a possibility for selecting the proper extractant. This method of selection was tested on the extraction of organic materials from aqueous solutions.
