Second-order perturbation treatment of spin Hamiltonian for low symmetry

An equation is reported, based on second-order perturbation theory, for the energy levels of the spin Hamiltonian for low symmetry. The principal axes of the different tensors in the spin Hamiltonian possess arbitrary directions. The angular dependence of the transition probability up to first order is given for randomly oriented samples.
