Abstract

The seasonal activity of peptic gastroduodenal ulcers was studied on the basis of 17,106 gastroduodenoscopies which were done during a 10 year period. The activity of gastric and duodenal ulcers increased only in autumn; their number in spring did not deviate from the average. The frequency of bleeding in duodenal ulcers increased in autumn, whereas gastric ulcer-bleeding was detected in more patients during winter. According to this examination the regular spring-autumn periodicity is not typical for peptic ulcer.
