Abstract

1. The bodies of earthworms (Lumbricus terrestris) were divided into three parts: cutaneous muscle (skin), intestines and chloragocytes. These were homogenized, and their antioxidant enzyme activities were determined in three periods: winter, spring and summer. 2. The Superoxide dismutase compositions of the tissues were compared with standards by means of gel electrophoresis. 3. The highest antioxidant enzyme activity is in the chloragocytes in May and the lowest in July.
