Rotor-stator molecular crystals of fullerenes with cubane

The preparation and structure of C60.C8H8 and C70.C8H8 were studied. These solids were prepared from aromatic solutions of fullerenes and cubane by evaporating the solvent or adding isopropyl alcohol as precipitant. The crystal structure were determined by X-ray diffraction. The C60-cubane and C 70-cubane were found to be rotor-stator crystals with high-symmetry structures and to have promising properties for future applications.
