Abstract

Calculations on the electrostatic free energy of solvation of Rb** plus and Br** minus in acetonitrile have been made. 'Steps' and continuum models were used to describe the dielectric profile close to the ion. Suggestions were made to choose the right form of the dielectric constant-distance function at the surface of an ion.
