Abstract

There is a continuous demand in cancer research to identify useful prognostic markers. Some variants of the cell surface transmembrane proteoglycan CD44 are suspected to be involved in tumor progression. In thispaper we review the current knowledge on CD44 and discuss its possible functions in tumor progression.
