Robust extension of fundamental problem of residual generation

Abstract

In this article the Failure Detection and Identification (FDI) fundamental problem is solved for robust case. This paper presents the extension of the general Fundamental Problem of Residual Generator (FPRG) algorithm when geometric method for decoupling failure modes from exogenous deterministic disturbance is not avaible. Most of the robust fault detection techniques use an H optimal state estimation method to attenuate disturbance effect on the output of the detection filter. The objective of this paper is the design a robust FDI filter based on geometric approach. The article shows numerical example demonstrating the effect of the worst case disturbance rejection on residuals sensitive to failure direction.
