### Abstract

This paper gives a detailed account of the authors' mathematical model of thrombopoiesis regulation. A special feature of the model is the consequent use of Von Foesrster's partial differntial equation for the description of age-structured compartments, where regulation effects are built into the Von Foerster growth coefficient. For the computer solution of the model equations-which includes ordinary as well as the partial differential equations-the authors developed an approximation scheme. Results of computer simulation of the model are also presented.
