The typical symptoms of the REM syndrome in a 24 yr old hypothyroid male and a 49 yr old female are described. This disease, in which immune reaction can play a contributory role, is seen as an independent entity by the authors, although signs indicating a local immunoglobulin synthesis were not observed. From a nosological point of view the REN syndrome is classified as a localised mucinosis.
