Abstract

High banks of the River Danube are known to be one of the most landslide-risked/affected areas in Hungary. In 2007, large ruptures appeared on the top of the bluff at Dunaszekcsõ indicating the development of a remarkable landslide which posed a risk on river navigation, local water supply and several landed properties. GPS and levelling surveys and permanent tilt measurements have been carried out since October 2007 on the problematic section of the bluff with the help of which the spatial and temporal evolution of the slide could be traced.
