Representing Biological Aspects in Engineering Model System

Abstract

The purpose of this paper is contribution to efforts in completing engineering model system (EMS) of industrial and consumer products by contexts and representations for biological aspects. Although industrial EMS products and the related methodology are developed in this direction, there are open problems solution of which need novel concepts, approaches, and methodology. Industrial or consumer product as well as related prototype and experimental configuration is defined as engineering structure (ES). Owing to results by extensive research, smart ESs increasingly serve biology related purposes and are increasingly relied on nature originated behaviors. At the same time, requirements against environment friendly ES characteristics are extended by law. As contribution to biologically consistent EMS, this paper introduces concept of cyber physical biological system (CPBS) using extension of CPS to biological related systems, objects, contexts, and processes. Integration of biology aspects in EMS and the related new and modified representations are discussed considering extension of the formerly published driving context structure (DCS) for system level EMS. New biological related purposes and capabilities of modeling systems and EMS are explained as CPBS related implementation issues.
