Redox potential measurements as a method for the investigation of the state of carbonization

Abstract

The theoretical bases and the practical method of the redox potential measurements had been summarized by J Milley (1985) including the general fields of the applicability. In this work special attention was paid to the investigation of the degree of carbonization. For this reason the most characteristic values of the redox potential curves were compared with the results of Rock-Eval measurements, and coal petrological data (huminite or vitrinite reflection) - these values are generally accepted for the determination of the state of carbonization - to give evidence for the applicability of this method for coal-geochemical investigations. -Authors
