Two old female patients underwent radical extirpation of basal cell carcinoma involving the external ear and the surrounding skin. The large tissue defect was covered in one case by a free latissimus dorsi musculocutaneous flap and in the other by a free radial forearm flap. There was not postoperative complication. The authors emphasize the advantages of the radial forearm flap.
