Abstract

The reactions of n-hexane over Pt-black and Pt/SiO2 (EUROPT-1) were studied as a function of hydrogen and n-hexane pressure, between 543 and 633 K. Turnover numbers and selectivities for hydrogenolysis, isomerization, C5-cyclization, aromatization and olefin formation were determined. The pressure and temperature effects are evaluated in terms of literature suggestions for likely mechanisms.
