Abstract

It is demonstrated in the cases of triethylsilane and Z- and E-1,2-dimethylsilacyclopentanes that Cu is an active catalyst of the exchange occurring on the action of D2, accompanied by retention of configuration. This is the first report of the copper-catalysed exchange of H atoms bonded to silicon.
