### Abstract

The rate of mass transfer is discussed for spherical particles, the film theory is applied. Knowing the value of the mass transfer coefficient is valid for mass transfer through a plain surface, the derived relationship is applicable for the calculation of the rate of mass transfer taking place in homodisperse or heterodisperse particle heaps of optional sizes, if the hydrodynamic circumstances are given.
