Rapid development of application-oriented natural language interfaces

Abstract

Computerized systems, embedded and mobile devices became everyday artefacts yet with an ever broadening gap between the complexity of the applications and limitations of the interface devices. Controlled natural languages could provide an easy-to-use and easy-to-compute communication interface that fills this gap. In order to facilitate the development of such system components we propose a methodology that relies on the conceptual model of the application interface, from which language rules and vocabulary can be generated. With the addition of a general framework for controlled natural language communication user interface can be created fast-and-simple without any specialized knowledge in language technologies.
