Radiotracer study of the adsorption of taurine at a platinized platinum electrode

Abstract

The adsorption of 14C-labelled taurine was studied in acid (1 mol dm-3 HClO4 and alkaline (0.1 mol dm-3 NaOH) media. The potential and concentration dependences of the adsorption differ strongly in the two cases. Parallelism with the behaviour of amino acids was found. Adsorption competition with Cl- and HSO-4 ions was studied in an acid medium. On the basis of these studies, it is assumed that the adsorption behaviour of taurine in an acid medium is determined by the -SO3H group.
