Radiotracer study of the adsorption of 2-naphthoic acid at a platinized platinum electrode

Abstract

Adsorption of 2-naphthoic acid on a platinized platinum electrode was studied by radiotracer method in both acid and alkaline media. In accordance with the expectations based on literature data an irreversible strong chemisorption was found. The elimination of chemisorbed species could be achieved by reduction and oxidation. Behaviour of chemisorbed species during cyclic voltammetric measurements was studied. It was shown that adsorption of 2-naphthoic acid exert significant influence on the specific adsorption of anions.
