Radiotracer study of adsorption phenomena on copper electrodes. Adsorption of aliphatic acids on "copperized" electrodes

Abstract

Specific adsorption of acetic and malonic acids was studied at a porous copper electrode in an acidic medium using a radiotracer method. It has been found that the adsorption behaviour of these species does not differ significantly from that of anions. Two well defined sections on the I vs. E curves were found, which were interpreted as showing the occurrence of two different types of adsorption sites. Common features with adsorption on noble metals are discussed.
