Quantum beats observed in stimulated emission in XeCl

Abstract

Quantum beats are observed in stimulated emission oftheB(v' = 0) → X(v″ = 1, v'' = 2) transition of XeCl with a period of 1.28 ps and a damping time of 12 ps. A molecular reorientation time of 1 ps is also clearly seen. These findings are in good agreement with known molecular data.
