Abstract

Silylation of water-plasma-activated mica was performed by organofunctional ethoxy silanes. The resulting amino functional surfaces were analysed by ESCA. Mono and trifunctional ethoxy silanes were deposited from aqueous alcohol solution also from dry cyclohexane. Both the effect of the solvent and the silane concentration on the chemical composition and the hydrolytic stability of the surface layer on the modified mica was investigated.
