Pulse-length scaling of laser damage at 249 nm in oxide and fluoride multilayer coatings

Abstract

Variety of fluoride based multilayer high reflectors have been studied for laser damage threshold measurements at 249 nm over a wide range of pulse lengths. They have higher damage resistance than conventional oxide based multilayers, and the scaling of damage threshold with pulse length is observed to be very similar and is consistant with scaling laws obtained for longer pulses and other UV wavelengths.
