Production of Triticum aestivum - Aegilops biuncialis chromosome additions

Ae. biuncialis was crossed as male parent with the winter wheat line 'Martonvasari 9 kr1' and F1 hybrids were produced. They were treated with colchicine and the amphiploid plants obtained were backcrossed with wheat. Ten monosomic chromosome additions (2n=43) and three double monosomic chromosome additions (2n=44) were found in the BC3F1 and BC2F2 generations. By selfing these plants, disomic chromosome addition plants could be recovered in the next generation. The differences in the hybridization patterns of the two parents observed after FISH with the repetitive probe pSc119 will enable us to further identify the alien chromosomes added to wheat.
