Producing diesel fuel by co-hydrogenation of vegetable oil with gas oil

Abstract

Production of partially bio derived fuels from mixtures of high-sulfur gas oil and vegetable oil raw materials in the gas oil boiling point range was studied. Both the vegetable oil conversion reactions and gas oil quality improvement reactions occurred. The products - depending on the vegetable oil content of the feedstock - have augmented n- and iso-paraffin content. The products with high cetane number had unfavorable cold properties, thus the isomerization and additivation is necessary. This is an abstract of a paper presented at the 19th International Congress of Chemical and Process Engineering and 7th European Congress of Chemical Engineering (Prague, Czech Republic 8/28/2010-9/1/2010).
